Garden Chats

You are invited to the Campbell Community Garden to take a casual deep dive into timely gardening topics. We will gather in the garden to learn and ask questions about our gardens. Feel free to bring a picnic dinner, bring a folding chair or blanket and a friend. If the temperature is extremely hot, we may reschedule.

Wednesday, July 16th, July 23rd 6:30pm - INSECTS, Sarah will show you what to look for when scouting for insects, how to nurture the good ones, and how to combat the bad ones. NOTE the date change!

Wednesday, August 6th, 6:30pm - FALL & WINTER GARDENING, Sarah will share tips on how to set up your garden to grow through the winter and how to set your garden up for a successful start to spring.

Wednesday, August 20th, 6:30pm - SAVING THE HARVEST, Sarah will share her creative tips on how to save your overabundance of summer produce.

Master Gardeners are available to answer gardening questions during this event.

Master Gardeners are trained volunteers, educated through OSU Extension Service to offer the local community Reliable, Relevant and Reachable gardening information.

Campbell Community Garden

Tour the Campbell Community Garden

The Campbell Community Garden will be on the Better Living Garden Tour and Art Fair this coming Saturday, June 21^st. Five other gardens on the tour include Risley Landing Gardens along the Willamette River, three private gardens, and the gardens of Oatfield Estates, an assisted living facility devoted to horticultural therapy – 7 acres with fruit trees, native plants, raised vegetable gardens, and chickens!

Tickets are $10 each, and the proceeds benefit the Sara Hite Memorial Rose Garden at North Clackamas Park. Purchase tickets the morning of the tour at North Clackamas Park on SE Rusk Road off of HWY 224. This is where the art fair will be held, and if you want to meet up and carpool, there is plenty of parking at the park.

Grand Opening of Campbell Community Garden

Grand Tomato Planting Party

Friday June 22nd, 4:00pm

Rather than a traditional ground breaking ceremony in the April rain, we decided to celebrate the opening of Campbell Community Garden with a Tomato Planting Party. Please join us in the garden for tours, refreshments, and help us get our produce donation program going by planting a tomato plant in one of our community plots.

Parking is available in the Campbell Elementary parking lot at 11326 SE 47th Avenue, Milwaukie 97222. The garden is located at the upper NE corner of the school grounds.

Thank you to Hansen Family Farm for donating tomato plants for our Grand Tomato Planting Party!

Oregon Tilth's Comprehensive Organic Gardener Program

This program runs from March 14 - April 4 and takes place Wednesday evenings 6:00-8:00pm and Saturdays 10-3pm. Cost: $250

This multi-session program in organic vegetable gardening is designed as a hands-on course, introducing beginning gardeners to the dynamic world of organic gardening while getting your hands dirty in the process!  This series is a must for people new to gardening in general and people who have recently moved to the Pacific Northwest. It is an ideal blend of practical instruction and scientific fundamentals  -  paralleled with hands-on time working in the organic demonstration gardens.
